dc history

Pastors Greg and Deena Thurstonson pioneered Dominion Church in April of 1996 with a core group of about 30 members. Today, Dominion is a growing church with over 350 in attendance each week. Although Dominion is an Assemblies of God Church, we attract people from all different backgrounds, denominations, and faiths.

The Hotel Years
In the early years, Dominion met in the main ballroom at the Nassau Bay Hilton. At times, scheduling conflicts would force the church to meet at a nearby Holiday Inn. Despite this, the church still continued to grow.

The Shopping Center Years
In the summer of 2002, we moved into a shopping center in League City that provided us with 6,000 square feet of our own space. By 2004, we had outgrown our new home and began looking for our own property.

The Present... 401 Landing Blvd
By May of 2005, the leadership of Dominion had set its sights on property located at 401 Landing Boulevard in League City , TX. We officially closed on the property on August 3, 2005 and began renovating the existing 13,000 square feet building into a house for our Father. And on October 30, 2005, we held our first service in our new home!

30.5 acres of Land Purchased
On August 28, 2008 Pastor Greg Thurstonson, Senior Pastor of Dominion Church, walked across the room of the Binz Building in Downtown Houston and met a man that held our future. In his hands were the contracts to the 30.5 acres of land on Calder Rd in League City, TX. At 12:48pm, Dominion Church took ownership of its future. Click Here for more details.

The Future
We still believe that there is more for Dominion Church. As long as there are people that need the hope of Jesus, then we believe it is our goal to grow in number, and in our buildings and land. We desire to acquire land and buildings that will give us the opportunity to reach as many people as we can for the Kingdom of God .
